The Steering Committee fulfils what is primarily a strategic role for the entire duration of the programme. It is responsible for NRP 52. Its remit ranges from the selection of projects to be passed on to the Research Council through to monitoring the quality standards prescribed by the Swiss National Science Foundation as applicable for all national research programmes. This is the body which shapes the programme, determining its profile and guaranteeing the required continuity and coherence in the decision-making process.
It organises and supervises scientific co-ordination and evaluates the progress of both the research projects and of the activities undertaken in the implementation of the individual projects and of NRP as a whole. Evaluation of interim and final reports is likewise carried out by the Steering Committee.
