An overview of activities
The intention to strengthen and broadly support research activities on childhood, youth and intergenerational issues in Switzerland and to integrate such activities into the relevant training and further educational programmes is a core implementation feature. The communication platform set up during the course of the NRP 52 will remain in place once the research work has been completed. Moreover, the findings are to be introduced into the political process where they will be justified. Practically-oriented findings are available for the relevant interest groups.
Since the start of the programme in spring 2003, the following activities have been implemented already or are to be implemented by the end of 2004.
Programme start – end of May 2004
A communication platform, containing all the necessary and relevant information for internal and external target groups (e.g. researchers or users) has been set up. Besides making communication with desired partners possible, the platform also offers various resources and activities.
The website is an important tool for planned interaction. From November 2003, this platform will enable the Steering Committee to communicate with researchers whilst also providing these two groups with a platform for discussion with external target groups. The printed newsletter also provides further opportunities for the individual groups to exchange their thoughts. From September 2003, the newsletter will report regularly in german and french on the various research ventures and their findings.
Establishing contact and fostering relationships with the various different partners is very important too, as are the exchanges between them. Personal contact, including between researchers and those who will use the findings at some later stage, will be arranged by the Steering Committee.
Working together with the media on a regular basis will be a desired aim right from the start of the project. The media will be regularly informed of individual issues or findings of the research companies. Association media and the specialist media will also be regularly informed of current activities and research findings.
From June 2004
Compiling an inventory of and evaluating the implementation activities already carried out to date will be particularly important since this provides the basic material from which examples and impetus for individual projects can be drawn. This can be used to discuss "good implementation practice".
The first partial and preliminary findings from the NRP projects will be published during the course of 2004. The activities of the researchers themselves are of major importance. A range of resources are being prepared which will enable the steering committee and those charged with the task of implementation to provide support to research activities.
There is presently no outlet for the NRP research findings to be published. A range of the NRP's own publications are however planned. These will be targeted at a broader audience who are interested in the NRP issues.
