The concept for the National Research Programme 52 describes the concrete implementation activities and the objectives to be achieved therefrom. These are aimed primarily at the national and international scientific community, users either planning or implementing policy and internal groups involved in the research programme. The framework conditions which have been established in the concept are also important.
The effects of the activities are twofold: on the one hand, they create the framework within the National Research Programme for achieving implementation objectives and provide the necessary resources and funds. Furthermore, these activities are targeted at achieving the implementation objectives common to all projects. On the other hand, a series of measures are planned which will facilitate the researchers' task in implementing project-related implementation objectives.
The concept formulates the framework conditions within which the implementation activities are to be carried out. It sets out the formal and organisational needs and what is required in terms of content in order to maximise the attainment of implementation objectives. However, it also serves as the basis for concrete implementation requests/applications which must be lodged during the course of the research work to the research council, and also provides a rough budget framework.
The objective of the National Research Programme is the recording of current and future living conditions and needs of children and adolescents. Particular emphasis is placed on insights in the area of intergenerational and legal aspects since there are major research gaps in these areas in Switzerland. Findings that contribute towards clarifying the need for action in the area of policy-making, by the federal, cantonal and municipal administrative authorities, as well as in the economic sector and non-profit making organizations are also welcome.
